Preparing for Sunday | April 24, 2022

The text for this Sunday comes from John 20:19-31.

Here are some questions to think about the text:

1.   The passage opens with the disciples in a locked room because of fear of the religious authorities that arrested Jesus.  For what reason might they be afraid?

2. Read Acts 2:1-21 and read John 20:22-23. How are the passages similar and how are they different?

3.  Why do you think Thomas wasn’t there the first time?

4.  Why did Thomas need proof of Jesus death and resurrection? 

5.  In verse 29 Jesus tells Thomas that he believed because he saw Jesus, but it meant more those who never see Jesus and still believe.  What was Jesus getting at?  Was he chastising Thomas?

6. What is the role of doubt in the life of faith?  What do you think of Thomas demanding proof of Jesus’ resurrection?
