2022 Lenten Theme: Reclaiming Our Call
/Our congregation is not the same congregation we were before March 2020. Spending a year apart because of COVID and then coming back together ensures that we can’t get back to normal no matter how hard we try. So how do we live as Christians in this environment where we can’t get back to what we once was? Where is God in the midst of all this?
First Christian Church is entering a new time in the life of this congregation. In the midst of this new time, God will be doing a new thing, something God has done throughout history. “I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19 NRSV)
So, we are in a new time and God is doing something new. Can we perceive what God is doing? If we do, can are we able to let go of what might hold us back?
For the season of Lent, we will focus on what we as a congregation, denomination and as Christians in general are called to do and be in the world. As we prepare to sell our building and move, what is God calling us to do? What is it we need to let go.
Please join us during Lent as we work on Reclaiming Our Call.
